One family. one opportunity.
Three Brothers, One Opportunity
South Africa had just been welcomed back onto the international sports stage after a long ban due to apartheid, and the energy across the country was electric. Seeing an opportunity to capture that national pride, three brothers—Hussein, Yasin, and Muhammad—started selling printed T-shirts and flags at sporting events across the country.
Sold Out Within the Hour
During the West Indies vs. Pakistan and South Africa triangular series, we set up shop and sold out within just one hour. From there, we expanded to Springbok rugby matches, Bafana Bafana soccer games, and music festivals, bringing vibrant, proudly South African merchandise to fans everywhere. Our brand wasn't just made in South Africa—its soul was made here, too.
Where the Name HYM Was Born
Beyond the stadiums, we honed our craft at iconic flea markets like Bruma Lake, Greenmarket Square in Cape Town, and the Rosebank Rooftop Market. It was there that our brand, HYM Clothing—named after the three brothers—began to grow.
From Market Stall to Manufacturing Floor
As demand increased, we evolved into a full-scale manufacturing operation, opening a factory in the Johannesburg CBD. Today, we sew, print, and embroider for large corporates, government agencies, and marketing companies. We also launched a specialized clothing range for the tourism industry, now supplying stores nationwide.
A Foundation Still Being Built On
Today, Yasin and Muhammad continue to build on the foundation those early days laid. Keeping the business proudly family-driven, locally made, and deeply rooted in South African soil.
